Answers to Above FAQsWhat is The Cosmic Waterhole? What is its purpose?Just as all species within a region come to drink at a waterhole, we are carrying this concept to the level of the cosmos. The Cosmic Waterhole was created to provide the greatest possible venue for the meeting of all minds throughout the universe, encompassing the earth and beyond. It was created for you—our visitors and members. It is your platform for self-expression and self-creation or re-creation. Our website will be promulgated around the world and, indeed, beyond. Back to TopHow do you know that aliens or other-worldly beings even exist?Short of direct experience of such beings, of which many accounts and claims exist, or purported phenomena suggestive of extra-terrestrial visits, the evidence for intelligent life beyond earth is one of logical probability. The presence of conscious life on earth is a revelation of a possibility that we must assume, given the nurturing conditions, would recur again and again in the virtual infinity of the cosmos. Yet this is but one paradigm and is based on the assumption that life would be as we know it and would dwell in conditons approximating those on earth. Discoveries of living organisms in conditions once thought to be inhospitable begin to suggest that life is far more durable and adaptable than previously thought—perhaps infinitely so. Further, in the deepest sense, “life” has yet to be defined; nor is it known whether life is the necessary matrix for mind. Consciousness may not presuppose life, and this of course conjures the question of the continuity of the self after death. This is a discussion that is clearly open-ended and is the core of our exciting journey of discovery. Back to TopHow would an extra-terrestrial or other such being manifest through the Internet?The Internet is a vast and intricate web of complex interconnections that encircle the earth, signals that are simultaneously transmitted and received by millions of terminals at the speed of light. The fine mesh of this web generates a worldwide electronic field that, not unlike the giant radio telescopes scanning the heavens, is sensitive to signals transmitted by devices on or beyond earth. Beings from other worlds, other dimensions, the future, etc. may manifest via this field through their own electronic devices, through the electro-magnetic field of their bodies or thoughts, through the Internet’s array of audio or video terminals, and through countless other means we can barely imagine. (See our overview) Back to TopHow would a non-human even know how to use the Internet let alone set up e-mail and other accounts or, for that matter, communicate in our languages?Remember that we are contemplating minds that would have found us; that may have traveled distances or through dimensions that our physics have deemed impossible, at least at our level of technology. For all we know, our visitors may emerge from an age in our own future that has mastered time travel. Thus, we are hypothesizing visitors with minds and technologies so advanced that grasping our languages, technologies, psychology, etc. would not present a barrier; minds and capabilities that may be well beyond what we can imagine. Of course, beings from other worlds, other
dimensions, etc. need do little more than appear. For those that wish to create
an other-worldly alter-ego, the key to capturing attention is to combine an
imaginative, yet credible self-description along with arresting images. Ones self-description should
capture the feel in both tone and detail of a realm that’s qualitatively
different from our own. The vividness of the description will likely be in
proportion to the clarity of the concept; that is, how steeped one is in
their vision of this alternate self, alternate reality. Back to TopHow would we know for sure when an alien, etc. has made contact with us?This is the fascinating mystery! But there are conditions under which we may well be convinced within a reasonable certainty. For example, we may be instructed in matters that transcend our ordinary understanding. We may have revealed to us formulae or technologies or medical cures, or for that matter levels of wisdom previously unknown. These are some of the more tangible indications. Beyond this, we will encounter profiles that are so qualitatively “different” that at the very least we will need to pause and exclaim, “Is it possible?...” Strikingly unique descriptions and imagery may not prove the presence of other-worldly beings, but to the extent we’re enthralled, uplifted or expanded by the imagery, the ultimate origin may little matter! members: Back to TopDoes this website threaten to open a Pandora’s Box by inviting unknown beings with an unknown intent?As explorers of new worlds via The Cosmic Waterhole, we of course sit at terminals that send and receive data, information, images, etc., not physical presences. We do not believe that our open invitation to inter- and extra-galactic beings creates such dangers as cinema's “They’re here!” or Fear-dot-com scenarios of malevolent beings emerging from our monitors, hard drives, or the like. Beings with that kind of intent and technology (if it were even possible) would not need an invitation or virtual threshold to intrude upon our world. Also, reason would suggest that highly evolved beings—our presupposition for minds with the technological prowess to communicate with us—are compassionate beings by reason of the very breadth of their awareness; that they would recognize and revere the sovereignty of other beings, other minds, other worlds. All beings and minds are invited to our cosmic venture in the name of peace and communion. Back to Top
